Do I need a Digital Product Passport?

The digital product passport becomes mandatory product by product, sector by sector. Answer three questions to see where you stand: whether you are covered, by when, and what you will have to provide.

1. What type of product do you sell?

Frequently asked questions

What makes a product subject to the passport?

Its category. For batteries, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 sets the obligation directly. For other sectors, only products covered by an adopted delegated act are in scope: a product is not covered because it is manufactured, but because a text says so.

Who is responsible for the passport?

The economic operator placing the finished product on the EU market: the manufacturer established in the Union, or the importer. Not the component supplier, not the distributor. A brand that outsources production remains responsible if it places the product on the market under its own name.

Is the passport mandatory for all products from 2027?

No. The first binding deadline is 18 February 2027, and it covers three battery categories only. Other sectors follow as their delegated acts are adopted, and some are not adopted yet.

What happens if you are not compliant?

National market surveillance authorities can require the product to be withdrawn and impose fines. The passport follows the product throughout its life, including after resale, repurposing or a change of operator.

From diagnosis to passport

The free plan covers five published passports, no credit card required. Enough to test one model and measure the gap with what the texts require.
